My subject is time and the constancy of time. My work combines images from the distant past with reworked forms borrowed from contemporary visual culture. Through placing these disparate inhabitants within a common domain, the chronological nature of time is called into question. The landscape context is seen as a constant, bridging the temporal divide. These landscapes are constructed utilising, within the painted surface, torn fragments of maps and food packaging. These materials are integral to the language of interconnectivity and in using them to describe nature’s forms, serve as a reminder of the human construct and our impact on the earth.
