These paintings began as an experiment in new ways of thinking and of doing. I wanted my work to speak and not to just be pleasant to look at. I used the unique characteristics of coloured pencil with the grain of the paper to create the texture of the pebbles, in and out of the water, while reserving acrylic paint for the fabric of the garments. Building layers with each medium, I used colour and light to add balance and give depth to each painting.
