In this series I use observations of plant life as a framework for exploring both utopian imaginings - celebrations of a joyful, ecological sense of belonging - and anxious thoughts about the catastrophic results of our increasing sense of separation. My exploratory process of etching lino then carving and scratching into the softened plate feels like delving down through layers to draw out the image, allowing gestural marks to emerge. The resulting prints are playful and unsettled with a sense of natural processes unfolding beyond our control but with a ‘holding place’ where humans belong within these interconnected systems.
