“So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp;
it has an inner light, even from a distance-
and changes us, even if we do not reach it,
into something else, which, hardly sensing it,
we already are”
(A Walk. Rilke, Rainer Maria)

As we are changed by the landscape, we change it also in minutely perceptible ways. The smooth polished rock, the carving in a tree, signs of those that have walked this way before us. We leave our mark on this pathway for those that follow us. They lived, we live, and they will live, in this space connecting us.

Fel y cawn ein newid gan y tirlun, rydym ninnau’n ei newid yntau mewn mân ffyrdd canfyddadwy. Y graig lefn lathredig, y cerfiad ar goeden, arwyddion o’r rheini a gerddodd y ffordd hon o’n blaenau. Rydym yn gadael ein marc ar y llwybr i’r rheini sy’n ein dilyn. Roedden nhw’n byw, rydym ni’n byw, a byddan nhw’n byw, yn y man hwn sy’n ein cysylltu.
