MA Celfyddyd Gain / MA Fine Art

The subject of my creative practice is my physical and emotional experience of running and walking in the landscape. ‘The nature of the self can only be understood through walking’ (Andrews, Kerri Wanderers). My use of traditional materials connects me to my paintings and to nature. The physical exertion of exercise, alongside the domestic work of grinding and blending gesso, pigments and egg tempera, filters into the shapes and marks I make when I am drawing. In a wider sense I explore my own female experience, by pushing my body physically and emotionally, as my paintings become memories of my relationship with the landscape.
