Unfinished Works is a series of non-finito portraits featuring people passed. I strongly believe there is a power in painting people, something deeper and more personal than a photo. A painting is imperfect, but ultimately capable of capturing a person’s likeness with emotion that no snapshot can. This is an exploration into poignant but beautiful storytelling through oil paint. By intentionally not covering the canvas entirely and leaving some of the ‘bare bones’ I created a looking glass into the process involved in making these pieces, which I hope inspires as much wonder in the viewer as painting these people has in me.
