The Transfiguration of the Commonplace*

While materials and objects are the springboard to my creative process, my aim is the evocation of something profound and elemental, rather than a reading that stops short at materiality. Recurrent motifs include grids, repetitions and rhythm and the juxtaposition of radically opposed materials. Dislocating a material from its traditional application disrupts the sense of time and place and dissolves the difference between past and present.

Installations using scale models in birch ply and gold leaf, exploring the aesthetic and sculptural potential of the wooden Euro-pallet.
