Branwen Ferch Llŷr (a story)
Acrylig ar bapur / acrylic on paper, 136 x 97cm
Cafodd yr holl waith yn rhan hon yr arddangosfa ei gyfieithu o Gunnai/Kŭrnai i’r Gymraeg. Chwedl lafar Gymraeg enwog yw Branwen Ferch Llŷr sydd wedi cael ei hadrodd, ei hysgrifennu a’i hailysgrifennu dros y canrifoedd. Dewisais y chwedl hon yn ffordd o newid y broses o gyfieithu o Gymraeg i Gunnai/Kŭrnai. Ar gyfer y chwedl hon dewiswyd deg o frawddegau. Gan fod enwau dau o’r cymeriadau Cymraeg yn cyfieithu’n enwau adar, caiff y cymeriadau eu cynrychioli gan adar.
All the work in this part of the exhibition is translated from Gunnai/Kŭrnai to Cymraeg. Branwen Ferch Llŷr is a well-known oral Cymraeg myth that has been spoken, written and rewritten over the centuries. I selected this myth as a way to change the translation process from Cymraeg to Gunnai/Kŭrnai. For this myth ten sentances were selected. As the names of the two Cymraeg characters translate to bird names, the characters are represented by birds.
