My artworks portray an experience of a scene. Whilst at Aberystwyth University, I have felt compelled to represent its scenery through painting. Inspired by the work of the Pre-Raphaelites and their intimacy with nature, my paintings are a personal response to the landscape. Through painting, I am able to document and describe these experiences in a way that a photograph cannot. When working on location, I can share the effect the landscape has had on me, within that moment in time. As the landscape varies, so does my work. My paintings embody an individual connection with my environment, and I hope to promote this engagement with others. At present, an awareness of our natural world is becoming ever more crucial and to possess a connection with it is vital for change."
